Evolve Social is proud to announce that together with local agency Rinsed Insights that we will be bringing internationally renowned social media event, Social Media Week (SMW) to Australia, Sydney for the first time this September.
SMW is a global initiative that started in 2009 and now takes place in 26+ cities each year during key dates in February and September, with more than 1,000 events and 1,745 speakers worldwide. SMW Sydney will take place from September 22nd – 26th, 2014, alongside simultaneous events in other key cities around the globe.
As part of the Social Media Campaign for Sculpture by the Sea we teamed up with the talented Gareth from GC Imagery to produce a series of videos to record for posterity this great local event.
This is our favourite, a time-lapse of sunrises, sunsets and night time photography all set to a great sound track. Enjoy :)
As part of Evolve’s engagement with Sculpture by the Sea Bondi 2013 we arranged a Instameet hosted by Lauren Bath and the local Instagrammers Sydney Photo community.
So if you didn’t get the chance to make it down to this years exhibition or have never been to an Instameet and want to find out more, here’s your chance to share in the magical atmosphere of this years Sculpture by the Sea Bondi 2013.
Here is a a short interview we produced at this years Sculpture by the Sea with Instagram celeb Lauren Bath to promote the #SxSmoments photo contest.
This year’s #SxSbondi13 exhibition which Evolve is a sponsor of will see the launch of both a Photo Contest, and a Photowalk hosted by Instagram celebrity Lauren Bath.
The photo contest will offer one lucky photographer the chance to win a trip to Perth as one of as Sculpture by the Sea’s official photographers to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Cottesloe exhibition.
All entrants have to do is capture and share their favourite moments from Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2013 on Instagram using the hashtag #SxSmoments.
In conjunction with the contest there will also be a Photo walk /Instameet starting at Tamarama Beach On Saturday October 26th at 4pm with Lauren Bath who will take a tour around the exhibition and provide some of the tips and tricks that have made her one of the most in demand photographers in Australia right now.
We first came across the name William Patino from Instagram Celebrity Lauren Bath who had just come back from Wollongong on the NSW South Coast raving about this photographer who does amazing landscapes so we had to find out what all the fuss was about..
Needless to say we were instantly drawn to his stunning landscape photography that shows off the NSW South Coast in all it’s splendour as well as some great images from trips to Canada, The Rocky Mountains and our very own Blue Mountains.
However, when we dug a little deeper we found that the reason for William’s rise as a Instagram photographer is his clever use of a combination of great images, video and inspirational copy to build a deeper emotional connection with his audience.
As visual marketing & Instagram becomes more important for brands here s a quick look at 5 of the most innovative brand campaigns so far this year.
According to a new study by the L2 Think Tank Instagram is becoming a core platform for brands to engage with consumers since it registers consumer engagement 18 times that of Facebook and 48 times that of Twitter.
The “Intelligence Report: Social Platforms” found that the visual component of Instagram has helped the platform grow to 100 million users with the average luxury brand having 100,000 followers. Other visual platforms such as Vine, Pinterest and YouTube have grown significantly and continue to be platforms for brands to deeply engage with consumers.
This week as part of our visual influencer series we had the pleasure of interviewing Snapper Rocks based photographer Jewels Lynch aka @jewelszee who kicked off our interview by telling us “Instagram is what got me into photography. I was one of the those people who said i’m not getting an iphone and then once I got one in 2011 i was absolutely hooked and started taking pictures of anything and everything”
This passion turned into more than Just a hobby late last year when she entered a competition and was invited to attend Hamilton island as part of the Ultimate instameet ,an all-inclusive weekend on the island in the company of other amazing bloggers, Instagrammers, journolists and Australia celebrities, who love to Instagram! #hamiltonislandultimateinstameet
This was followed by in January of this year by winning the McDonalds and Austereo sponsored #DoSummer campaign, out of 65,000 entries and winning $10,000 which allowed her to buy her first DLSR camera.
In June she won NT Tourisms #colourtheoutback competition. An all-inclusive 4 day outback adventure exploring Uluru and Kings Canyon.
So what is it about your photos people like?
The main comment I get it is how people love the brilliant colours of my photos. “A lot of which is due to using plenty of saturation and contrast, but the secret is about not going to warm and too cold.”
“The other comment I most often get is people feel like they want to be in that place, people feel like they could walk into the picture and they get an emotive response to those sort of pictures which is what any photographer wants to aspire to. ”
